Eleventh and Twelfth Grades

A student’s junior year is both important and exciting. It is often the final year for colleges and universities to evaluate academic and extracurricular achievement, and it is also a time to start exploring future academic opportunities. Through interviews, a strength-finding survey, college and program research, and in-depth discussions and evaluations, Journeys guides students in creating a college list that reflects their individuality, interests, and needs. This year often also includes academic course selection advising, extracurricular advising, SAT/ACT test preparation, college visits preparation, essay brainstorming, and much more. A student can expect to meet with a counselor between 6-8 times in their junior year.

In the final year of high school, starting in the summer months, individuals will work to complete their college essays and applications, procure recommendations, complete standardized tests, and start to identify financial aid needs. By late fall or early winter, the application process will be complete, although students and families may still need more guidance related to financial aid. Journeys will be there to help until a student has excitedly chosen their school- their future! A student can expect to meet with a counselor between 8-10 times in their senior year.
